Add Resources
Prerequisites
- Create the resource structure if it doesn't already exist. See Create a Resource Structure.
- Configure the set of calculation results for the resource structure before you set the calculations for the detail level resources. See Configure Resource Results.
- An element of cost (EOC) category is typically selected for the detail level resources assigned to work packages. The standard predefined list includes Labor, Material, Other Direct Cost, and Subcontract. All projects share the list of EOC categories. You can add other user defined EOC categories or modify the predefined list. Make any changes to the shared list of EOC categories before you define your detail level resources.
- When applicable, Add Resource User Fields to the resource structure before you begin adding resources to the structure. Also Set Project Resource Filters.
- Define the common set of shared resource roles assigned to detail level labor resources. See Add Resource Roles. Resource roles are used for cross-project resource capacity and demand analysis. See Enterprise Nodal Structure.
- Select in the Navigation Menu. The Manage Resources tab window displays.
- Click on the dropdown in the Ribbon Menu and select the resource structure you want from the list.
- Select the Resources tab. The left pane displays a grid view of the resource hierarchy. For a new resource structure, this view is empty.

Repeat Step 5 as needed to build out your resource structure.
Tips:
There should be a single top level in the resource structure. Define a code so it is easy for you to identify the top level such as "All Resources."
To add a series of resources with the same parent, check the Add Multiple Resources box in the Add Resources dialog box. Uncheck it when you are ready to do another level.
When you have added user defined fields to the resource structure, click in the Ribbon Menu to include them as a column in the resource hierarchy left pane.
- Click in the Ribbon Menu.
